Ice Prince ft. Gyptian – Magician (Remix)

New Video from Ice Prince in collaboration with Jamaican Crooner  Gyptian. the track is titled 'Magician' and I must say I very much like the beat on this one its quite laid back and the chorus is catchy delivered in a dance hall fashion which is fast becoming the trend on the Naija music scene.

Wande Coal-Private Trips

Another Chartbuster from Wande Coal who is currently signed to the Mo-hits Records label with other big Naija Artists Dr Sid, D'Prince, Dbanj and KSwitch  this is  the video of his first single 'Private Trips' off his 2nd album and what can I say about that beauty in the video if anything she makes its definitely worth watching.

The track itself has been subject to some mixed reviews however since its upload on youtube last week its been getting many thousands of views and I  think its a great tune but probably not quite at the same level as his mega hits 'Bumper To Bumper'  and 'Who Born The Maga'  from his first album and maybe some are still judging him by those standards.
Anyway this is just  his first single off the album so there's more to come and anyone who has followed Wande Coal will know that he got immense talents so I'm sure we will not be disappointed'.
I'll let you be the judge on this one have a listen and please leave your comments
Peace

Dbanj, Kanye West & Beyonce - Oliver Twist Remixed

We knew it would happen and it finally has, Nigerian superstar Dbanj has hit the UK Official top 10 charts with the remix of his track 'Oliver Twist' which features an appearance from Kanye West.
Dbanj is currrently in the UK promoting his new single, the fact that it is now charting at No 9 on the UK  and iTunes charts must be welcome news and proof that his collaboration with Kanye has worked very well.

Dbanj who signed to the Kanye West Music Label G.O.O.D Music in June 2011 has experienced a metoric rise to fame since hitting the Afropop music scene 7 years ago with his hit single Tongolo which was then followed on by a string of hits such as 'Suddenly' 'Why Me', 'Gbono fele fele' and 'Fall In Love

Known for his energetic and charismatic live performances this is not the first time Dbanj has hit the limelight by collaborating with a big U.S RnB Star, In 2011 he also collaborated with Rap Superstar Snoop Dogg to remix his track 'Mr Endowed '

After a rather slow start for the Oliver Twist remix which had to contend with competition from afropop crooners and potential rivals Psquare signed to RnB superstar Akon's 'Konvict Muzik' Label their track  'Chop My Money'  which featured Akon and had been released a few months earlier had been getting a couple of million more views on Youtube.

Dbanj and Kanye are now fast closing the gap with over a million youtube views of 'Oliver Twist' and going straight into the mainstream charts It now seems there are bound to be more exciting new developments and releases in the pipeline from both Artists and their labels  as they continue to compete for domination of the Afrobeat/Afropop music scene which has been rapidly gaining recognition in the mainstream pop charts.

Dbanj Set feature In Kanye West Movie
Just when you would think things could not get any better for the Dbanj there is also the news out that he is set to feature in Kanye West's movie "Cruel Summer" which is set to be released later on this year and we can truly say it looks like the man is set to go places and hopefully things will continue to get better.

In Oliver Twists he sings the line "I like Beyonce" and who knows he get to might get to meet her soon.. of course he would need to watch out for Jayz.

PSquare ft Akon & May D 'Chop My Money'

Unless you ve been hiding under a rock in the Sahara desert for the past few months you should know that
P-Square are now signed to the Akon label 'Konvict Music' along with fellow Naija stars Wiz Kid and 2face.
The results of Akon and P-square collaboration is the track 'Chop My Money' which features appearances from Akon and Nigerian Rapper May D.
Released late last month the video has been an instant hit on Youtube with over a million hits so far and firmly placing the dynamic twins at the top of the charts where they rightly belong. The video which was shot in multiple locations tells the story of one of the twins spending and losing his money on a beautiful women who does n't return his love .. well what's new, some people would say life is a game you win some and you lose some,  On another level you could see this as a celebration of the power women to manipulate men or maybe its just a case of P-Square having too much money to care.

Whatever the case the track is definitely a super-hit and Akon seems to have got his strategy spot on, and I can only see this track bringing him more success and exposure to the millions African fans worldwide of course P-Square must be laughing all the way to bank as they gain even more  international exposure and recognition featuring alongside Akon no wonder the're singing  'I don't care if you chop my money'
The role this track plays in popularizing the Nigerian Slangs and Genre of Afropop internationally cannot be overstated and it looks like a win win situation for the Nigerian music scene at the moment.
Meanwhile Kanye West's Signing of their Arch Rival D'Banj to his 'Good Music' record label does nt seem to be going as well as expected despite Kanye also making cameo appearances at D'banj shows, so far the P.Square hit seems to be way ahead in the charts some observers have stated that one of the reasons for Akon's runaway success is due to the fact that he has more of a hands on approach and has been more heavily involved in the collaborations you could also argue that because of Akon's West African roots being from Sengal himself he probably has more indepth knowledge and feel for the African  market.
The recent split between Dbanj and his long time producers Don Jazzy also seem to indicate that not all is well at the moment anyway whatever the case I wouldnt  write off D'Banj yet as I suspect there's more to come from that camp Kanye West is a star on top of his game who not only knows the music industry inside out, he is also a master of showmanship and self promotion and  we'll have to wait and see what his next move with D'banj will be, I suspect the rivalries between the two camps  are set to run and run... Just watch this space
Peace

We recently ran a story on that fast rising young Nigerian Star Wiz Kid who has been literally ripping up the club floors with quite a few hits especially the single 'Don't Dull' well his hard work seems to have paid off, recently signed by international RnB Star Akon to his Konvict Muzik Label it seems the duo have been busy in the studio working on some forthoming hits apparently a remix of the hit single is soon to be released featuring vocals from Akon
