Bashorun Gaha in History
The title of the Album has generated quite a bit of interest because it's named after a tyrant according to ancient yoruba history.The Historical Bashorun Gaha was described as the Prime Minister of the old Oyo Empire during the reign of the Emperor, Alaafin Abiodun (who ruled between 1770–1789) Despite the Oyo traditional political system having built in checks and balances to ensure powers were shared between powerful institutions like the Alaafin, The Ogboni (Influential Ancient yoruba Cult) and the council of Ministers and King Makers known as the Oyomesi.

Bashorun Gaha, who was head of Oyomesi managed to subvert the system and usurp maximum political powers, as a result he was able to dispose of four Alaafins (Kings of Oyo) in sucession and unleash a reign of terror and tyranny with the help of his sons and members of his family who were reputed to have comitted many excesses and atrocities throughout the empire.

He was finally overcome by the fifth Alaafin Abiodun who managed to outwit him and have him executed many of his children and family members were also executed after his death while a few managed to flee

They could have done more with the video than literally translate the words into pictures i.e. the classroom scene was too expected...but its a great catchy song , the video adds nothing and takes nothing from it.

The chances of Nigeria's Super Eagles qualifying from their world cup group seems to be more or less dead and buried after the rash display of a mixture of madness and immaturity from Nigerian Midfielder Sanu Kaita got him a red card and sending off in the 33rd minute, turning round a game in which Nigeria seemed destined to a comfortable cruise to victory after taking the lead early in the game to favour the Greeks who made good use of the extra man as they overran the 10 man Nigerian team and piled pressure on the defence leading to their equaliser and eventual 2-1win.

The Nigerian team now seems set to exit the world cup in the 1st round but still have a slim chance of qualifying, to do so they need to beat Korea by a comfortable margin and hope that Argentina does the same to Greece. The big question would be is the current Nigerian team up to the task?

In all honesty most avid Nigeria fans must be experiencing large measures of doubt, this is arguably the weakest Nigerian world cup team of recent times lacking the skills and inventiveness of past teams which have included the likes of Finidi George, Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Sunday Oliseh and strong inspirational strikers like Daniel Amokachi and Rashidi Yekini it is difficult to foresee any rays of hope for the current team.

A better Nigerian team should still have held on to the 1-0 lead or at the least held Greece to the 1-1draw and the glaring missed opportunity to equalise by Ogbuke Obasi late in the game only goes on to show the lack of quality in this team.

However I would'nt completely write them off just yet strikers Obafemi Martins, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Obinna Nsofor are more than capable of finding the net on a good day and even though the calming influence and skills of injured mid fielder John Obi Mikel will be missed Nigeria still has the likes of the young Haruna who can move the ball around in midfield and experienced players like Danny Shittu, Taye Taiwo, Osaze Odemwingie along with veteran striker Kanu to help see them through, Goal keeper Vincent Enyeama has also showed some brilliant form and a lot might still depend on him to keep Nigeria's hopes alive.

In the meantime I think I'm going to place a few bets on Ghana, Ivory coast as the teams most likely to keep Africa's hopes shining in the 2nd round and Brazil because I just luv watching them.

Nigeria as we all know is famously notorious for the export of Oil, Endemic Corruption, 419 scams, Kidnapping for ransom, intractable problems in the Delta region and leads the way in showing the world how to misrule a nation.

So you can imagine how bemused I am to find out that we have just received another accolade courtsey of the young man Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, as we now join the list of countries like Afghanistan Iran, Iraq and Pakistan with the potential for producing international terrorists intent on mass murder.

I suspect from now on things will get a lot tougher for Nigerians travelling anywhere near the U.S.

A lot has been already written in the press about this incident as the western press true to form have a field day about more negative news regarding our dear beloved Nigeria however I am still quite baffled about the whole incident and feel that there are some questions that still need to be answered.

This guy comes from a wealthy priviledged family lived in an expensive apartment in London and yet tried to blow up a plane on the alleged prompting of al-qaeda if we accept the well known fact that Nigeria is a potential breeding ground for terrorism due the rampant corruption injustice and unemployment I am still baffled as to what this guy's underlying motivations were and would really like to hear what he has to say to justify his actions.

Was this just a case of brainwashing or were there other underlying reasons

Why go all the way to the U.S to attack an American Airline when there are so many corrupt past and present politicians in Nigeria that continue to ruin the country.

Can we honestly blame the west for the present plight of our nation and the fact that as an oil producing country blessed with untold resources Nigeria manages to squander it's wealth at an unprecedented rate

Or am l missing something here.

On a positive I must congratulate his father on trying to do the right thing by alerting the U.S authourities on the potential danger however why they chose to ignore his warning's and not properly investigate his son -baffles me, was this another case of western arrogance and believing that his Nigerian father did'nt know what he was talking about or his story lacked credibility. after all it's not everyday that you get father's alerting authourities about a security risk posed by a dangerous son.

Meanwhile true to form our friends the Al-Qaeda have been quick to claim responsibility for the bomb plot claiming that it was in response to the U.S killing of miltants in Yemen

Why they had to get a Nigerian involved baffles me I've always thought that we were too smart to do other peoples dirty work but then maybe that's a simplistic view of a rather complex situation.

Anyway peace and God bless to all may the year 2010 be a better year for us all I think we all need it

Are you one of those iphone fans who have rushed out to get a new 'must have iphone' but would like to make ringtones of your favourite songs without having to search all over the internet for iphone compatible ringtones to download into itunes.

If the back of teen music magazines are to be trusted then we can safely assume that ringtones are now big business, and Apple are probably selling loads on itunes. but even if you can find your favourite Naija tracks on itunes, do you really want to have to pay for them.

After all you're probably already paying higher than average mobile phone contract prices for iPhones are you really about to fork out more money for 15-second clips of your favourite songs? Why not make your iPhone ringtones for free.
All you'll need is an iPhone (of course) itunes,on your computer which you can install for free from the Apple website and your favourite Naija songs in MP3 format if you have'nt got any naija Mp3's then you can download them for free from my site Numusicstreet,com

Once you've got your favourite tracks ready, here's what you do

1.Open iTunes and select your favourite MP3 audio file.

2.Right-click (Cmd-click for Macs) on this file in your library to bring up the context menu.

3.Select Get Info Click for larger image This will open a new dialogue box showing various details about the audio file. Select the Options tab.

4.Check the boxes next to both Start Time and Stop Time and enter the times you want your new ringtone to start and stop usually about 25 – 30 seconds (the maximum length is 40 seconds) then click OK. This will return you to your music library.

5.Right-click (Cmd-click) on the same music file again and this time select convert Selection to AAC. iTunes will process this briefly and insert the new ringtone-sized file under the original file into your library.

6.Right-click (Cmd-click) on the newly created file and select: "Show in Windows Explorer (or Finder on a Mac)" new dialogue box will open showing you the location of this file. Select the file and rename it, changing the file extension from ".m4a" to ".m4r". Windows will warn you that this change may make the file unstable, but continue anyway. Back in iTunes, delete the ringtone file you've created from your library, then import the renamed '.m4r' file into your library. itunes will usually place the file into the ringtone library for you ready to use connect your iPhone and sync your playlist. You may have to manually drag the .m4r file into the Ringtones section on your iPhone. With your iPhone synced this file is now ready to be used as a ringtone

Nigeria Comes back from the Brink to qualify for South Africa 2010

After the disappointment of conceding a last minute equaliser to group rivals Tunisia in September 09 which seemed to have assured Tunisia of certain qualification if they beat Mozambique leaving Nigeria's army of fans resigned and quietly praying for a last minute miracle.

The Super Eagles have done it and qualified for the World Cup for the fourth time in their history with a win over Kenya's Harambee Stars.2 strikes from hitman Obafemi Martins and another from Yakubu Aiyegbeni was enough to send the nation into raptures, and send the Super Eagles soaring to South Africa.

But they had to work for victory by coming from behind, after Kenya opened the scoring through Dennis Oliech on 16 minutes. In, an open, entertaining game goals were always likely, and that proved to be the case. The Super Eagles continued to press for an equaliser but it didn't arrive before the break and they went into the interval trailing.

Things brightened up for them in the second half however with the equaliser arriving just after the hour mark.when frontman Obafemi Martins was on target to make it 1-1.

Just three minutes later Super Eagles again had the lead when Yakubu Aiyegbeni - slotted home. Kenya managed to get back into the game. with an equaliser on 79 minutes, but there was still time for another twist.

Martins kindly popped up with the winner with seven minutes to go, sparking off wild celebrations in the Nigerian camp after receiving the news that Tunisia had lost 1-0 to Mozambique.
